Seaside Village

Scarborough is a conservation village and the southernmost settlement on the Atlantic side of the Cape Peninsula. Nestling between the mountains, the sea and Cape Point Nature Reserve, it’s one of the most stunning locations in South Africa.

Boho-Chic

Scarborough has a boho-chic feel to it: the product of a village that mixes artists and surfers with writers and conservationists. It also has an increasingly lively selection of cafes and restaurants.

Nature Surrounds

From baboons and tortoises to whales and otters, nature is never far away. Scarborough is backed by trails through the fynbos-covered hillsides, while the village has two stunning beaches, including one covered in mussel-flecked rock pools.

Peace and Tranquility

Perhaps Scarborough’s greatest attribute is its tranquility: a peacefulness that comes from walking along its beaches and untarred roads, star-gazing the Southern Cross at night, and listening to the crash of Atlantic breakers.

Surfing, Kitesurfing & Windsurfing

Scarborough’s beach break has long been a draw for surfers, who have now been joined by an array of kitesurfers, windsurfers and foil surfers when weather conditions permit (which is often the case). The waves and currents of Scarborough can be quite testing for beginners. Fortunately the surfing mecca of Muizenberg and False Bay are nearby, so beginners don’t have far to travel to hone their skills before braving Scarborough waves.

Beyond Scarborough

The village has a fantastic location, 15 minutes drive to historic Simon’s Town and the penguins of Boulder’s Beach. The entrance to the Cape Point reserve is less than 15 minutes south, while the fishing village of Kalk Bay is a short drive along False Bay.

Scarborough is less than an hour from the heart of Cape Town,
but it’s also a world away.
